Now that I'm using the iPhone, I've made keeping my calendar up to date a bit more challenging.
Here's what I have to keep in sync:
- iPhone Calendar which only syncs with MobileMe Calendar
- MobileMe which only syncs with iCal Calendar on my MacBook
- iCal on the MacBook since MobileMe only syncs with iCal
- Plaxo Calendar to act as a hub to sync my iCal Calendar to Google Calendar and to my Outlook calendar
- Google Calendar as my main calendar since Gmail is my main mail account.
- MSFT Outlook on my Win XP desktop
6 Calendars!
If I had a magic wand, I'd want a single hosted calendar. My choice would probably be Google Calendar though Plaxo isn't too bad. This single calendar would act as the hub for all other local clients to pull from. Google now supports CalDAV between their calendar and iCal. But unfortunately, the iPhone Calendar doesn't. And MobileMe is so far behind that I'm not sure if it ever will. And since MobileMe can't handle subscriptions, iCal using CalDAV is useless when trying to keep the iPhone calendar in sync.
Why oh why Apple have you screwed up so badly with MobileMe? :-(
