Just got back from spending Christmas at Disney World and the Disney Cruise.
* My thoughts on the Disney Cruise coming soon.
Saturday seems to be a good day to go since it's a travel day for those coming to Disney World for the week. At best, it'll give you an hour or two of slightly less crowds. Don't get me wrong, it's still crowded but a bit more manageable.
This picture taken by Minnie's House in Toontown says it all. :-)
We stayed at Disney's mid-tier resort, Port Orleans Riverside. It was just so so. Motel 6 layout with fancy facade. Sort of like a Disney ride. It was clean and comfortable and for $150 a nght, can't really complain.
* Tip: From the airport to the hotel, we took Disney's Magical Express bus service. While they will handle the bag for you from baggage claim to the room, my suggestion is pick up the bags yourself and get it loaded on the bus with you. We landed little after noon and our bags didn't get delivered til close to 6pm although we were told that it would take only a couple of hours. My daughter wanted to go swimming at the resort but ended up stuck in the room waiting for our bags to arrive.
* Tip: Do give yourself extra time to get to the Park. Since there's no tram connecting these resorts, you have to take the bus back and forth. I found the service can be unpredictable in timing.
* Tip: Make sure your resort has a restaurant. Ours did but the adjacent resort, Port Orleans Floridean had none. Unfortunately, the food at our resort was atrocious at best. I'd suggest take their boat taxi service and go eat in Disney Downtown. A tourist trap but at least you have a decent selection.
